Labor would spend around $20 million sprucing up Queensland's kindergartens, Premier Anna Bligh has announced.
The Kindergarten Plus policy would invest $10 million in renovating playgrounds and buildings and $4.3 million in grants for equipment and toys.
Not-for-profit groups would get help to open kindergartens in disadvantaged areas, with $5 million in start-up grants.
Ms Bligh told reporters in Townsville the policy was about giving Queensland kids a "flying start" to life.
Labor's target is universal kindergarten access for all Queensland children by 2014.
More than 69 per cent of children are now enrolled in a kindergarten program, up from 29 per cent in 2008.
By 2013, another 121 kindergarten services will be open.
It is the third education policy Labor has announced in as many days.
